Happy Birthday Vincent Van Gogh

161 years ago, Vincent Van Gogh was born in the Netherlands.

Self Portrait, 1887

For those who don't know him, what the hell have you been doing with your life?
He's one of my all time favorite post impressionism painters, and definitely one of the best in the world. I find him incredibly interesting, because he lived a really awful life full failures. You may know him from that one episode from Doctor Who or as the dude who cut his left ear, but don't mind me, let's see what wikipedia has to say about him

Vincent Willem van Gogh ( 30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) was a post-Impressionist painter of Dutch origin whose work, notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color, had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. After years of painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness, he died aged 37 from a gunshot wound, generally accepted to be self-inflicted (although no gun was ever found). His work was then known to only a handful of people and appreciated by fewer still.

I don't even know what to say. I love him and his work so much, and I'm just thankful that he got to live and paint all these wonderful things and it saddens me that he wasn't appreciated at his time...
