No, seriously, please explain this to me. Why does everyone suddenly become so shocked whenever someone mentions that they read? It's like, I'm just another normal human being until I tell someone that I read and suddenly, they start treating me differently, like pch , she's a weirdo.
I'm sorry! I'm sorry that I actually prefer to read until 2 am when my eyelids can't take it anymore, rather than getting drunk and shoot babies or whatever kids like to do these days. And I don't even read as much as I want to! I get that you might get a bit freaked out that I can remember the precise words from a book I read 5 years ago, or that I... For example, yesterday my mom was in awe when I knew the exact time that the light from the sun takes to reach the surface of the Earth, which is 8 minutes, because I remembered something I had read in August about it. And I'm just sitting there like... what. Why. Is it bad to have some knowledge? Is it bad to actually know stuff and use it in my daily life, am I just filling my head with stuff that will never be used?
I honestly don't get it! Reading is one of my favorite things ever because it's awesome to get away from this crappy reality and day dream about how I'd prefer to take rings to Mordor, or have a direwolf, or have books that can teleport you between countries or be the size of a thumb, I don't even know. There's a whole new world out there waiting for it to be read and I think that it's awesome when people can connect through books, just look at the Nerdfighter community, we're a good example of that! Just, why's it so weird to read? I will never get it. And I seriously feel for the oncoming generations if they're seriously going to be raised by people with that sort of mentality. Good luck for them, they're gonna need it.
