R E A D: The Dark Room

My mom bought me this book because I fell in love with the movie Lore which was based in it. At first I was getting some mixed thoughts, this book talks about 3 different people with nothing in common besides their relationship with photos and that they have a connection with WW2. The first one was Helmut, and I didn't really enjoy his chapter, but just because it was really slow, but still really interesting. The second chapter was about Lore. Fun fact, Lore was the author's mother, and this chapter was really really epic, although I didn't love it like I love the movie, which had more tension between Lore and Thomas and they showed Lore's character development better, throughout the movie you can pin point when she starts to realize the atrocities the germans had made and were doing, and when she rebels against her nazi grandmother and just hsjbdkja it hurts too much talking about this movie because it's heartbreaking. The last chapter was probably, no, definitely my favorite. It talked about Germany's war guilt, and it was so terribly powerful. The thing I love about Rachel's writing is how raw and blunt she is. I'm gonna be honest here, I cried in this chapter, quite a lot, because even though I'm not german, I struggle with a lot of the questions that Micha was struggling with, too. Or maybe it's just me who always asks herself questions with no answer and that nobody cares about.

I just, uh, I liked it a lot, in general, and I keep thinking about it, so if you're interested in learning a bit about different perspectives on WW2 beside the jews', please read it. It's intelligent, simple, and asks all the right questions.
